REVIEW: LUSH AMERICAN CREAM CONDITIONER

If you’re like me and have big, voluminous, and complex hair, what hair conditioner you use becomes the main tool in your shower routine. I am so fussed about what products go into my hair, I can't imagine not having a proper hair conditioner. Keeping my hair soft, luscious, and moisturized are my top priorities when it comes to my picky curls, and American Cream is a winner for my dry hair.

American Cream is one of LUSH’s fan favorites, and for a very good reason! I am seriously considering buying their 1kg bottle as I love the stuff. I have been using the same set of hair products for well over a year now. But, as I was on a little shopping trip later last week, I decided to pick up the LUSH American Cream conditioner to give it a trial, as I believe everyone should experiment with different products to see what works best for them.

Before getting into anything else, I want to dive into the scent of American Cream. It is the most delightful and gorgeous smelling vanilla I have ever come across. I personally don’t think it smells purely of strawberries, to me it smells like a strawberry milkshake. It is a light vanilla, mouth-watering strawberry, and softening honey scent, that leaves you feeling comfortable and overall like a princess. The smell lingers for a good few hours, sometimes you can get a small scent of it the following day, which is perfectly fine with me because I can’t get enough of it!

The main ingredients American Cream consists of is also something quite interesting. English honey, to moisturize and combine as an antiseptic. Vanilla pod infusion to sweeten and comfort. Benzoin resinoid, an anti-inflammatory, used to protect the hair. Scalp clarifying lavender, and fresh oranges to make the hair shiny and easy to manage. Lastly, fresh strawberries which help freshen and tone everything out. The product itself isn’t thick like most conditioners you stumble across, which makes it unique. This conditioner is about as thick as an actual milkshake, unlike most conditioners that are thick and leave your hair feeling greasy.

The conditioner itself is packaged in a recyclable, easy-squeezy plastic bottle, and it also comes naked, whichever you prefer best. However, these bottles come in four sizes: 100g, 250g, 500g, and a gigantic 1kg. I’ve bought the plastic bottle which works well for me because the product is a little runny and I feel the bottle would last me longer in the long-run.

Final results: I am very satisfied. Since my hair tends to get very dry and frizzy, I need lots of nourishment and I more than certainly get that from American Cream. After using, my frizz was tamed and that magnificent vanilla-strawberry creamy fragrance still lingered throughout the entire day. My hair was left feeling incredibly soft, moisturized, and kept my curls under control. Since I started using this milkshake-like conditioner, it has easily become my favourite conditioner, perhaps even my favourite LUSH product ever​! My only problem with this conditioner is that because it isn’t very thick, I have to use a larger amount of the product because I have so much hair, which could end up being a little pricey. Overall, I am in love​  with American Cream, and who knows, maybe I will splash out on one of the 1kg bottles next time! Damn right, it’s better than yours.
